Dynamics of fortnightly water level variations along a tide-dominated estuary with negligible river discharge

CIMA researcher Erwan Garel, in collaboration with Ping Zhang and Huayang Cai from the Institute of Estuarine and Coastal Research, and the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center of Coasts, just published an article focused on the 15-days variation of the averaged water level along estuaries in relation to spring and neap tides. Based on observations and an analytical model, this research shows that the along-channel slope is produced by tidal wave friction and reflection at the estuary head. 🌊🌊
