Juan L. Garzon is a postdoctoral fellow at CIMA since 2019. He is a civil engineer (University of Granada) with a master degree in coastal and port engineering (University of Cantabria). In 2018, he obtained his PhD in Coastal and Environmental Engineering at George Mason University (USA). His research contributes to reducing risks by improving hydrodynamic model for water level hindcasts and forecasts and clarify uncertainties for the implementation of natural solutions for coastal protection. Currently he is developing an Early Warning System for flooding and erosion to release warnings with risks levels for coastal receptors in hotspots of Portugal. He has a wide experience working with field equipment including water pressure sensors, ADCPs, GPS… Also, for his research, he uses models simulating hydrodynamics and sediment transport such as ADCIRC, SWAN and XBeach. During his academic trajectory, he has visited several countries namely Spain, Mexico, the USA, England and Portugal.
