José Jacob (PhD) is an Assistant Professor, teaching at the University of the Algarve since 1990 several subjects such as Ocean Physics, Coastal Oceanography, Modelling of Marine Systems, Oceanographic Data Processing, Ocean Energy and Oceanographic Cruise, among others. He was coordinator of the Marine Sciences degree and of the MSc in Oceanography and member of the commission of coordination of the MSc on Marine and Coastal Systems. He has more than 30 years of research experience on Coastal Oceanography and Fluid Dynamics. He has participated in 15 national and European research projects, being the coordinator of a few national projects. He was the coordinator of twenty six field experiments to study the hydrodynamics, nutrients, chlorophyll-a and particulate matter dynamics inside Ria Formosa lagoon (south of Portugal) and the exchanges between this multi-inlet system and the ocean as a function of the hydrodynamic, meteorological and other environmental conditions. He published more than 50 articles on peer reviewed journals and proceedings of scientific conferences. He is Member of Centre for Marine and Environmental Research - CIMA since 2001.
