Graduated in Geology from Université Paris-XI, France, she obtained her PhD in 1998 in Environmental Methodologies, with a specialization in isotopic geochemistry, from the UQAM-Université du Québec in Montreal, Canada. She is an Associated Professor of University of Algarve since 2024, with permanent appointment since 2005, teaching at the Department of Earth, Sea and Environment Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology. She is a CIMA Researcher, and Associate Researcher at the ICArHEB Center and the GEOTOP-UQAM-McGill Center in Canada, as well as National Alternate Representative at ESSAC. She has tenths of publications in specialized journals, conference proceedings and book chapters, and supervision of master's and doctoral theses, in addition to having coordinated and participated in several research projects. She coordinated the CIMA research team that participated in AMAL's Inter-municipal Adaptation Plan to Global Changes. In December 2014, she assumed the position of Executive Director of the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve, in Faro, where she has developed several projects in science communication. From 2018 to 2024 she was the scientific coordinator of the Algarvensis Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark. In 2023, she integrated the Board of the Center for Marine and Environmental Researches - CIMA/UAlg/ARNET.
