OCASO - Observatório Costeiro Ambiental do SudOeste/ Coastal Environmental Observatory of the Southwest 

The objective is the creation of a transboundary operational oceanography structure integrating the in situ observation capabilities of the different partners with the forecasting capabilities of different operational modelling systems existent in the Southwest Iberia. The resulting system will provide the stakeholders with high resolution operational oceanographic information in a ready to use and continuous basis. The system will boost a qualitative jump in the scientific knowledge of the marine processes in the region and will promote the development of the so called blue economy. The aggregation of the different partners will promote an optimization of resources and will create critical mass assuring international scientific competitiveness. Several dedicated data products will be created directed to the different socioeconomic interests and activities relevant to the Southwest Iberia.
