Sara Isabel Cacheira Raposo
Sara Raposo (BSc Biological Engineering, MSc, PhD BiotechnologicalSciences, 2004) is Assistant Professor at Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Algarve University, lecturing in BSc and MSc Biotechnology and Biological Engineering MEng, subjects related with Bioprocess Engineering and Biological Technology. She is Director of the Biological Engineering MEng.She integrates the Engineering and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, where her research focuses on the production of 2nd generation Biofuels, with carbon-rich agro-industrial wastes, to produce biodiesel and bioethanol, from yeasts and microalgae. She has developed research also in the field of bioprocess engineering, mass transfer, rheological, hydrodynamic and kinetic studies, scale-up; downstream processing, oxygen mass transfer. She has supervised 19 Master’s theses and has been involved in 10 national and european funded research projects and Technological Development projects, supported by industrial enterprises. Her research work has resulted in 18 articles in SCI indexed peer-reviewed journals, 50 articles in proceedings of international/national conferences and 2 patents.
