    Theocharis Plomaritis

    Theocharis Plomaritis is a coastal oceanographer specialized in sediment transport, coastal morphodynamics and associated hazards during high energy low frequency from events. He has worked in two related EU projects (MICORE and RISCKIT). His research interests include collection and analysis of field data in combination with numerical modeling (Delft3D, SWAN, XBEACH) in order to identify the key processes that influence morphological evolution of a specific coastline in various spatial and temporal scales. He is experienced in developing Early Warning System (EWS) oriented towards the predict erosion and flooding Hazards.

    Currently is working in the SCORE project looking on the environmental impacts of Tidal Energy converters (TEC) in the coastal zone.

  • Interests:

     

    My research interest fails in the broad area of coastal oceanography, coastal dynamics and morphodynamics with specific focus on storm processes coastal hazards and associated risks, as well as, the effect of climate changes and climate variability and their effect on the coastal risk mitigation. Evaluation and assessment of renewable energy schemes is a research area that I am also exploring. . I am particularly interested processed based numerical modeling techniques.
