Key Words: Ocean color remote sensing; machine learning
The specialization of D. D'Alimonte is addressed to both environmental modeling and information engineering. As environmental modeler, he has a consolidated experience in ocean color remote sensing, specifically with respect to the quality assessment of space-born products maps, the identification of the applicability range of regional algorithms, and the execution of Monte Carlo radiative transfer simulations. D. D'Alimonte is currently PI member of the Sentinel-3/OLCI validation team of ESA and EUMETSAT. The information engineering component instead acknowledges a solid background in statistical pattern analysis based on neural nets for data regression and classification, visualization schemes for the representation of high-dimensional data, feature extraction methods, algorithms for time-series analysis, as well as probability density models for outlier detection and hypothesis testing. Additional operational skills are the capability to collect and process field radiometric data.
