HISTORY OF REQUI – IBERIAN QUATERNARY MEETING

The institutional contacts between the Quaternary scientists from Portugal and Spain were established during the X International INQUA Congress held in Birmingham in 1977, thanks to the initiative of Miguel Ramos one of the founding members of GTPEQ - Grupo de Trabalho Português para o Estudo do Quaternário. The will of cooperation was reconfirmed during the V National Meeting of Grupo Español de Trabajo de Cuaternario (now AEQUA – Spanish Quaternary Association) and in consequence the first joint meeting  I REQUI was proposed proposed for organization and held in Lisbon in 1985.
