Luís Manuel Zambujal Chícharo
Luis Chícharo Holds a PhD In Ecology from the University of Algarve. He is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Algarve. He is guest professor at the University of Espirito Santo (Brazil) and University of Lodz (Poland). Presently he is the Director of the International Centre for Coastal Ecohydrology, approved as a centre under the Auspices of UNESCO. He is also President and founder of the International Society for Ecohydrology and Coordinator of the Land and Ocean Interactions for Coastal Zone (LOICZ) Regional Node for Africa and Middle East and North Africa countries. He is coordinator of the international consortium of universities running the Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Ecohydrology and also director of the Post graduate course in Coastal Ecohydrology. He is member of the National Water Council by Governmental appointment. He is member of the Governing Board of the European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology, under the auspices of UNESCO (appointed by IHP-UNESCO) and also of the Governing Board of the UNESCO-HIDROEX, Brazil (appointed by IHP-UNESCO). He is Associate editor of the Journal Estuarine and Coastal Shelf Science and member of the editorial Board of the journal Ecohydrology and Hydrobiology. He is coordinator of the UNESCO Ecohydrology Demonstration Site of Guadiana estuary and is co-chair of the Scientific Steering Committee of UNESCO Ecohydrology Project.
